About the role

The Sheetmetal Worker is responsible for the accurate and efficient fabrication, assembly and installation of sheet metal components used in mechanical services applications, including ducting, flashings, housings and associated fittings. The role supports the workshop and site teams in delivering quality products that meet client specifications, technical drawings, Australian Standards and the Company's workplace health and safety (WHS) requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Fabricate, cut, shape, form, roll and assemble sheet metal components from galvanised steel, stainless steel, aluminium and other materials as required.
• Operate workshop equipment including guillotines, press brakes, folders, rollers, notchers, spot welders, plasma cutters, MIG/TIG welders and hand and power tools in a safe and competent manner.
• Perform welding, brazing, riveting, seaming and mechanical fastening to the standard specified by the Company and relevant Australian Standards.
• Produce components in accordance with job cards, cutting lists and production schedules issued by the Workshop Supervisor.
• Read, interpret and work from technical drawings, shop drawings, isometric sketches, specifications and mark-ups.
• Install fabricated sheet metal components on site, including ductwork, plenums, flashings, brackets and related items, where required.
• Support other trades on site with the fitting, adjustment and rectification of sheet metal components.
• Carry out visual and dimensional inspections of fabricated components at each stage of production.
• Identify defects, non-conformances and rework requirements and report these promptly to the Workshop Supervisor.
• Maintain the quality standards required by the Company's quality management procedures and by relevant Australian Standards, including AS 4041, AS 1665 and AS/NZS 3568 (or equivalent) where applicable.
• Comply at all times with the Work Health and Safety Act 2011 (Cth) or the equivalent State or Territory WHS legislation, together with the Company's WHS policies, procedures and safe work method statements.
• Keep the workshop, work area and site clean, tidy and free of hazards.
