About the role

From the employer’s listing · Riot Games · posted 21 October 2026

Riot Games was established in 2006 by entrepreneurial gamers who believe that player-focused game development can result in great games. In 2009, Riot released its debut title League of Legends to critical and player acclaim. As the most played video game in the world, over 100 million play every month. Players form the foundation of our community and it’s for them that we continue to evolve and improve the player experience.

We’re looking for humble but ambitious, razor-sharp professionals who can teach us a thing or two. We promise to return the favor. Like us, you take play seriously; you’re passionate about games. We embrace those who see things differently, aren’t afraid to experiment, and who have a healthy disregard for constraints.

That's where you come in.

As a Senior Visual Design Artist on the global Publishing team for League of Legends: Wild Rift, you will help introduce the game to players, shaping how this game shows up in the world, how players experience it, and how the brand and live service evolve over time.

You will serve as both a hands-on craft master and a strategic creative leader for Wild Rift Publishing, brand marketing, and player community experiences. In this role, you will define and execute the global visual identity for Wild Rift while driving community-centric art initiatives that deeply resonate with players and gamer culture.

You will lead cross-disciplinary art teams, direct external agencies and vendors, and collaborate closely with Creative Directors, Brand Managers, and Game Teams. Success in this role requires a blend of exceptional visual design craft, player empathy, technical pipeline understanding, and a passion for fostering an active presence within the global gaming and creative community.

You will report into the Manager, Content Production of the team.

Responsibilities:

  • Global Art Direction & Vision: Define, evolve, and drive the high-level artistic vision and visual style for Wild Rift publishing campaigns, moments, and product features.
  • Brand Guardianship & Craft Execution: Design, implement, and maintain the holistic visual identity, typography, brand guidelines, and brand kits, ensuring strict adherence and high quality across all global internal and external partners.
  • Community & Social Art Strategy: Shape player-centric art direction and creative collateral tailored for social media platforms, community hubs, player activations, and game culture to drive engagement and celebrate fandoms.
  • Vendor & Agency Leadership: Lead RFPs, onboard external partners, and manage relationships with external design studios, illustrators, and creative agencies, providing actionable feedback to elevate deliverable quality.
  • Cross-Disciplinary & Production Collaboration: Partner with Creative Directors, Brand Managers, and teams across Motion Graphics, Illustration, Narrative, and Animation to ensure visual consistency, healthy development pace, and transparent delivery tracking.
  • Pipeline, Quality & Performance Control: Review final delivery assets to guarantee visual excellence, IP cohesion with the League of Legends universe, and compliance with technical performance targets across mobile, web, and social channels.
  • Resource & Industry Leadership: Determine required art resources and timelines, help define visual storytelling standards, and participate in recruiting top talent while building an industry presence for the discipline.

Required Qualifications:

  • 8+ Years of Experience in visual design, publishing, or art direction within the games, entertainment, tech, or advertising industries, with proven leadership across multidisciplinary teams.
  • Expert Craft Mastery: Demonstrated expertise in brand development, visual design systems, typography, key visuals, and game marketing trends.
  • Tool Proficiency: Expert knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign), Figma, Miro, and modern presentation tools.
  • Production Process Knowledge: Deep understanding of the end-to-end creative development pipeline, including illustration, concept design, 2D/CG production, and animation.
  • Strategic & Communication Skills: Ability to navigate ambiguity, provide clear strategic rationale for creative decisions, and continuously self-educate on marketing innovations.
  • Language: Fluent in spoken and written English and Mandarin.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Riot IP Knowledge: Deep familiarity with the League of Legends universe and related Riot IPs (Teamfight Tactics, Valorant, etc.).
  • Social & Community Design Focus: Active member of the creative craft community with a passion for gamer culture, player empathy, and designing for social platforms, community activations, and content creators.
  • 3D Pipeline & Visual Development Knowledge: Understanding of 3D art workflows (posing, lighting, compositing) and world-building for games, film, or animation.
  • Multi-Platform UX Knowledge: User experience familiarity across web, mobile, television, and film media platforms.
  • End-to-End Campaign Ownership: Track record of owning projects from initial ideation through to final delivery, localization, and cross-team communication.

For this role, you'll find success through craft expertise, a collaborative spirit, and decision-making that prioritizes the delight of players. We will be looking at your past studies, experience, and your personal relationship with games. If you embody player empathy and care about players' experiences, this could be your role!
