SENIOR CARPENTER

Job Summary

Construct and assemble structural frameworks and fixtures, install finish carpentry elements, inspect and repair wood structures, and maintain safety standards on job sites.

Responsibilities

• Build structural frameworks including walls, floor joists, roof trusses, doors, windows, stairs, and temporary scaffolding to meet construction specifications
• Fit cabinets, trim, paneling, flooring, and hardware accurately to ensure quality finish work
• Identify damaged wood, frameworks, or structures and replace them to maintain structural integrity
• Follow workplace safety regulations consistently, wear personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean and safe job site
• Use manual and power tools such as saws, drills, sanders, nail guns, and levels proficiently to complete carpentry tasks
• Read blueprints and perform basic shop math to interpret construction plans and measurements
• Apply knowledge of joinery, framing, and cabinetry techniques to execute carpentry work effectively
• Lift materials and work safely on ladders or scaffolding demonstrating physical fitness, stamina, and manual dexterity
• Communicate and collaborate effectively with contractors and clients to coordinate work and ensure project success

Preferred competencies and qualifications

• Completion of vocational training, NITEC, WSQ, or a carpentry apprenticeship program
• 6 to 10 years of hands-on experience in residential, commercial, or finish carpentry
